Gujarat Governor felicitates NCC cadets

Ahmedabad, Feb 4: Gujarat Governor Nawal Kishore Sharma has felicitated the state NCC Republic Day contingent, which returned from the Republic Day parade at New Delhi.

The Governor presented medals to eight best NCC cadets and gold medal winners at a function here, an official statement said yesterday.

The gold medal winners were Pawan Trivedi of Ahmedabad for remote control gliding, Sanjay Makwana of Rajkot and Pallavi Sirohi of Vadodara, who was judged best cadet in junior wing.

The best cadets in senior division of army, navy and air force were Riyaz Changda (Vallabh Vidyanagar), Ranjit Singh Sunatra and Manpreet Singh Phull respectively.

Best cadet in senior wing was bestowed on Rashmi Rekha Mahapatra, while in junior division it was given to Utpal Patel of Vadadora.

The NCC contingent, consisting of 101 selected cadets representing various schools and colleges of the state and Union Territories of Dadra Nagar Haveli, Diu and Daman, had represented Gujarat at the parade at New Delhi. The state contingent won second to eight positions in various competitions.

The cadets also presented cultural and national integration programmes at the PM's rally in the presence of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and other dignitaries, the statement added.
