Delhi-bound air passengers protest over delay in departure
Chennai, Feb 4 (UNI) Passengers bound for New Delhi by Indian flight (IC539) from here agitated shouting slogans against the airliner's administration for their inordinate delay in arranging an alternative aircraft for their journey at Kamaraj Domestic Airport here last night.
Airport sources said the flight was scheduled to leave from Chennai at 1810 hrs, but the pilots notified some technial snags in the aircraft, when it was about to take off.
The Indian authorities asked the passengers to wait for an hour at the lounge, saying that the technical snag would be rectified shortly.
But the said flight did not start even after 2130 hrs, resulting in all the 95 passengers voicing protest and shouting anti-slogans against the administration.
Finally, the passengers were sent to Delhi only at 2400 hrs by another flight, which had arrived from New Delhi as per its original schedule, the sources added.
