Mah: Compensation for kin of wall collapse victims

Mumbai, Feb 3: Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh announced an ex-gratia of Rs 1 lakh each to the kin of the 26 persons who died in a wall collapse in neighbouring Navi Mumbai today.

''Rs one lakh will be paid as ex-gratia to the kin of each of the 26 deceased persons,'' an official statement from the Chief Minister's Office said here.

A section of an under-construction wall of Bhalla Complex, which houses warehouses, collapsed in Kuthari village near Taloja at around 1315 hours.

Most of the hapless victims are construction labourers.

Several others are injured in the unfortunate incident.
