Boy falls into pit in MP

Katni, MP, Feb 4 (UNI) In an incident bringing back memories of Haldari village's Prince, a three-year-old boy today fell into a 60-foot-deep pit being sunk for a borewell at a farm near this district's Dhoreshwar village 45 km from here and a feverish rescue effort is underway, the police said.

Rajendra Kushwaha's son Amit met with the accident at 1630 hrs while playing and is stuck at a depth of 20 ft. District Collector Anupam Rajan, Additional Superintendent of Police Purushottam Sharma and other officials reached the spot. Municipal officials, fire brigade personnel and locals mounted the rescue. A parallel pit is being dug and a team of doctors is on the scene.

''Army experts are being called in from Jabalpur,'' said Mr Rajan.
