Mumbai, Feb 4 (UNI) A three-day training workshop on emergency medicine and disaster preparedness is being held here beginning February 5.

The workshop is being organised by the Seth G S Medical College and KEM Hospital in collaboration with the Flyingdoc Inc. USA and University of Southern California, Los Angeles County Medical Centre, USA.

It has become imperative for all hospitals to have trained ''emergency physicians'', and the workshop will help train resident doctors, staff members, consultants, nurses and paramedics who can establish and provide emergency care of international standards, according to organising team member Dr Jignesh Gandhi.

This will be the second such training workshop. The first one was held last year, Dr Gandhi said.

Flyingdoc. Inc is a Los Angeles-based non-profit organization, with an India chapter ''Flyingdoc. India Trust Foundation''.

Flyingdoc. Inc has acquired affiliation with the Department of Emergency Medicine at the University of Southern California, Los Angeles County Medical Centre, USA, with an objective to share their expertise with the faculty, staff and residents of hospitals in India, he added.

The workshop is likely to be attended by over 250 students, resident doctors, interns, teaching staff members, nurses, paramedics and consultants of various specialities from across the country, Dr Gandhi said.
