Young whale washed ashore

Thanjavur, Feb 3 (UNI) The carcasse of a young whale was washed ashore at Kallar fisherman's hamlet in Nagapattinam district yesterday, authorities today said.

According to fishermen, the 16-feet long calf whale might have been struck by a moving ship as the remains bore deep injuries.

They informed the matter to the Fisheries Department and the carcasse was removed.

Another big whale was washed ashore recently with deep cuts.
