Working Group for better state-centre relations

Jammu, Feb 3 (UNI) The Working Group, constituted by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, today emphasised having better state-centre relations to carry forward the peace process to resolve the Kashmir issue.

All the political parties including the main opposition party in the legislative assembly National Conference, toor part in the discussions and presented their point of views before the meeting chaired by Justice S Saghir Ahmad.

Talking to reporters after the meeting Union Minister for Water Resources (representing Congress), Prof Saif-ud-Din Soz said all the members in the meeting had put forward their stand on various issues pertaining to Jammu and Kashmir.

''It (Working Group Meeting) would help carry forward the Indo-Pak peace dialogue,'' he said.

During four-hour-long discussions, CPI state secretary M Y Tarigami demanded a resolution on the recent case of custodial killing at Ganderbal.

Though no official resolution was passed all the members in the Working Group condemned the act, sources told UNI.

The Working Group has been constituted by Prime Minister after conclusion of second round table conference held at Srinagar last year.
