Thick fog blankets UP

Lucknow, Feb 3 (UNI) Early morning and late night fog continued to disrupt road and railway traffic in Uttar Pradesh.

The sun remained shy for the second consecutive day today.

According to railways sources here, thick fog envelope continued to play havoc with the rail traffic. Several trains including Allahabad bound Inter City and Ganga Gomti Express, Prayagraj Express, Chauri Chaura Express, Neelanchal Express were running late.

The mercury fell considerably in Varanasi, Kanpur, Allahabad and Lucknow in the last 24 hours, the meteorological office told UNI.

Allahabad at -- 8 degrees Celsius -- 2 degrees below normal, was the coldest place in UP. The state capital recorded 8.9 degrees.

A report from the city of tents, Allahabad said pilgrims were posed with problems due to dence fog. Vehicles too moved sluggishly due to decreased visibility.

The weather is likely to remain dry with thick fog blanket during the early and late hours for the next 24 hours.
