Bangalore, Feb 3 (UNI) Senior Congress leader Janardhana Poojary, MP, today came down heavily on the JD(S)-BJP coalition Government in Karnataka, alleging that spreading communalism was its only notable achievement.

Addressing a press conference here, he alleged that JD(S) President and former Prime Minister H D Deve Gowda, by forging alliance with communal forces, had enabled reactionary forces to gain ground in the State during the Government's one year in office.

Lashing out at Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy and his deputy B S Yediyurappa, the former KPCC President charged that their ''inexperience'' had led to an alarming law and order situation, farmers committing suicide and developmental works hitting roadblocks.

Describing the situation in Dakshina Kannada as most volatile following the recent communal riots, he said that to counter the saffron organisations, Muslim fundamentalists were also mobilising their community people. ''The situation is changing from bad to worse in Dakshina Kannada.'' Mr Poojary condemned the Sangh Parivar for organising 'Virat Hindu Samajotsav' all over the State and making false propaganda that Hinduism was under threat. ''No important Mutt head is telling that Hinduism is under threat, except the BJP and Sangh Parivar leaders,'' he added.

Appealing to the minority communities not to get provoked by the communal forces, bent upon creating disturbances, he said that if he had been the KPCC chief, he would have expelled the Congress members who took part in the Samajotsav.

To a question, the Rajya Sabha member strongly defended some of the Congress leaders organising a rally and public meeting here against the execution of the deposed Iraqi president Saddam Hussain, but condemned the violence during the event.
