SEZs: TDP demands judicial probe
Hyderabad, Feb 3 (UNI) The opposition Telugu Desam Party in Andhra Pradesh today demanded a judicial inquiry by a sitting High Court judge into the allocation of land for the Special Economic Zones.
The ruling Congress had turned the SEZs into ''Self-Economic Zones'' allocating thousands of acres of land to ineligible companies, party Spokesman M V Mysoora Reddy alleged at a press conference here.
The Government, which had cleared 45 SEZs in the state had in principle approvaed nine more SEZs. It had also allocated land to companies which had nothing to do with Information Technology, in IT SEZs, he claimed. Only a thorough probe by a sitting High Court judge could bring out the truth he charged.
The Centre and State Government had connived with influential people and nameless companies in the allocation of 3000 acres in Hyderabad, 7500 acres in Visakhapatnam, 10,000 acres in Kakinada and 2700 acres in Nellore, he alleged.
