Rape convicts get life imrisonment

Kaithal, Feb 3 (UNI) A local court today sentenced two persons convicted of raping a woman to life imprisonment.

Additional Sessions Judge Neelima Shangla sentenced Joginder and Surinder, residents of Serda village of this district, to life imprisonment and fined them Rs 61000 each, for raping a woman in 2005.

As per the prosecution, the accused accosted the woman while she was going to her fields on April 21, 2005 and raped her in a 'kotha' in the fields. They took the woman to Gurgaon and kept her there for some days.

She was later brought to her village where she died under mysterious conditions.

The court observed that the accused deserved stringent punishment and hence sentenced them to life imprisonment.
