Prohibitory orders from Feb 10 on carrying fire arms, torch lights

New Delhi, Feb 3 (UNI) Following intelligence inputs that some groups may disturb peace in Delhi, police will clamp prohibitory orders, banning carrying of firearms or explosives inside cinema halls and torch lights in functions and rallies in the national capital.

Delhi Police Commissioner K K Paul, in a written order, pronounced that Section 144 CrPC will come into effect from February 10 and remain in force till April 10, unless withdrawn earlier.

Dr Paul said information has been received that some people or groups may indulge in activities prejudicial to maintenance of peace in Delhi.

''I have reasons to believe that circumstances exist that carrying of concealed firearms or explosives inside any place of public amusement is likely to cause danger to human life safety and disturbance of public tranquility,'' he said in the order.

Any person contravening the order shall be punishable, it said.
