Lucknow, Feb 3: Former union minister Natwar Singh will ''expose the weak foreign policy'' of the UPA government at a seminar here next week, Samajwadi Party general secretary Amar Singh today said.

The seminar, organised by the Ram Manohar Lohia Trust, has invited the former foreign minister to give an address on 'India's foreign policy and Iraq' here on February 6. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav would be the chief guest of the seminar.

''The seminar was important following the execution of former Iraq president Saddam Hussein and the silence India maintained on the issue...the seminar would essentially expose the weak foreign policy of the government,'' he said.

The UP Development Council chairman maintained that despite being given a clean chit by the Pathak Committee, looking into the oil-for-food deal, Mr Singh was removed as the minister.

''He was instrumental in framing the foreign policy of India and was closely associated with Pt Jawahar Lal Nehru...what he says on the issue is important and something to look forward to,'' he claimed.

The SP leader charged the UPA government with toeing the line of the United States. ''It was under the pressure of Washington and hence Mr Singh was removed from the post,'' he alleged.

To a poser on the possibility of Mr Singh joining the SP, he said it was up to him to decide and respond to the question. The SP leadership had recently invited him to join its ranks. ''It is not appropriate for me to speak on the issue,'' Mr Amar Singh said.

To a question on the SP's attacks on AICC president Sonia Gandhi and its proximity with the BJP, Mr Singh said the party had no personal enmity with Ms Gandhi.

''The one who is not toeing the Congress' lie is deemed communal...please remember that in the last general elections, it was the SP which had brought the number of BJP MPs from Uttar Pradesh to ten from 60.
