Natural gas discovered in Manipur-Myanmar border
Imphal, Feb 3: Natural gas has been discovered at Manipur-Myanmar border area in Churachandpur district.
An official statement said the discovery was made near border pillar no 31/3 at Singhat sub-division of Churachandpur district.
State government officials and an Oil and Natural Gas Corporation team would survey the area to find out if gas could be used properly, the statement said.
The matter came to light after GOC of 57 Mountain Division Maj Gen Kochekkan wrote a letter to state Chief Secretary Jarnail Singh in this regard.
Some tests were conducted and presence of natural gas has been confirmed in the area, it said.
