Farmers to write one crore letters to PM
Gulbarga, Feb 3 (UNI) Farmers across the country will send one crore postcards to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, listing their grievances, to mount pressure on the Centre to concede their demands.
Informing this at a press conference here, State Red Gram Growers Association President Basavaraj Ingin said 10,000 post cards would be posted to the Prime Minister from each district in the State.
Representatives of all farmers organisations in the country would be meeting in Hyderabad on February 28 to chalk out the future course of action to fight against the ''anti-farmer'' policies of the Governments, he revealed.
Taking exception to the State Government's proposal to waive only farm loans taken from cooperative societies, Mr Ingin demanded that all loans taken by peasants from various banks be written off.
He appealed to the Government to announce compensation to farmers for loss of red gram and black gram crops.
