Create awareness on blood donations: Official

Chennai, Feb 3 (UNI) Health Secretary to Government of Tamil Nadu V K Subburaj today underlined the need for sensitising people about the benefits of blood donations.

Inaugurating a blood donation camp in connection with the St Montfort's 333rd birth anniversary celebrations here, Mr Subburaj said only 50 per cent of the blood was now available as against the total demand. More blood donation camps were needed of the hour, he said.

He said the government was making all efforts to encourage voluntary blood donations and added the government had already commenced a special campaign to create awareness among the people on the prevention of diabetes.
