Congress concerned over atrocities on Madhesias

Patna, Feb 03 (UNI) Bihar Congress unit today expressed serious concern over the reported police atrocities on Madhesias, persons of Indian origin staying in the districts bordering Nepal and India.

Bihar Pradesh Congress Committee (BPCC) spokesperson Kripanath Pathak said the Nepal police had unleashed a reign of terror among these Madhesias forcing them to vacate their place of livelihood and return to India.

'' Nepal government is not serious to bring the situation under control and protect their lives and properties,'' he alleged.

He further said the huge inflow of Madhesias from Nepal into India would pose threat to India's internal security as chances of maoist activists sneaking with them into bordering districts of Bihar were high.

He also urged the Centre to raise the issue with the Nepalese government to ensure protection of lives and properties of these people of Indian origin.
