Commission to hold pubblic hearing in Meghalaya
Shillong, Feb 3 (UNI) The Delimitation Commission (DC) will hold a public hearing on its draft proposals and readjustment of the boundaries of Meghalaya's constituencies from March.
The Commission would hear the public views here and in Tura, state's Commission member Alexander Hek told UNI over phone from New Delhi here today.
Yesterday, a five-member delegation from the state led by Mr Hek held discussions with DC Chairman Justice Kuldeep Singh in this regard.
Mr Hek said the members from the state urged the Commission to maintain a status quo as far as the three general seats in Shillong were concerned.
He further said the delimitation of the constituencies is unlikely to be implemented for 2008 Assembly polls.
