Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh, Feb 3 (UNI) The Chhattisgarh High Court has quashed a petition challenging large-scale surrender of naxalites before Chief Minister Raman Singh last month.

Hearing a petition filed by Jagdalpur-based lawyer Pratap Narayan Agrawal, a division bench comprising Justice Vijay Kumar Sinha and Justice Dhirendra Mishra said a petition in this regard must be filed on behalf of the aggrieved party.

The bench observed that an outsider, who had no connection with the issue, cannot file a petition in this regard.

Additional Advocate General Prashant Mishra requested the court to quash the petition, as it was not in tandem with the rules.

The petition had described the surrender of 79 rebels before Dr Singh last month as fake and an attempt to gain popularity.
