KIRKUK, Iraq, Feb 3 (Reuters) At least seven car bombings today rattled the ethnically mixed city of Kirkuk, killing four civilians and wounding 37 others across the oil-rich city, police sources said.

Such an onslaught in one city is a rare occurrence but police said the low casualty figures were a result of small explosives and the absence of people on the streets at the weekend.

Two of the car bombs, including one driven by a suicide bomber, targeted the offices for the two main Kurdish parties in the city, the Kurdistan Democratic Party and the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, headed by Iraqi President Jalal Talabani.

Other blasts targeted civilians near a petrol station and a secondary school. Shops shut in fear of more attacks.
