Airtel directed to pay Rs 30,000 to subscriber

Srinagar, Feb 3: The Divisional Consumer's Protection Forum (DCPF) here has directed the Airtel to pay Rs 30,000 to one of its sunscribers for disconnecting her mobile with out notice.

The Forum, comprising President Rashid Ahmad Lone and members M I Kirmani and S Amina Farooq, awarded the compensation in favour of one Arifa Jan, resident of Bandipora in north Kashmir's Baramulla district, for suffering both mental agony and economic loss due to his phone disconnection.

The complainant had alleged that Airtel disconnected her mobile phone without any notice.

The Forum directed Airtel to restore her mobile coonection forthwith and also pay compensation amount within four weeks failing which complainant shall be entitled to interest at the rate of six per cent.

An amount of Rs two thousand has also been awarded as litigation cost in favour of the complainant.
