9 killed in UP road accident

Ferozabad, Feb 3 (UNI) At least nine people were killed and eight others seriously injured when a tempo, in which they were travelling, collided head-on with a truck here today.

The speedy tempo, on the way to Shikohabad, rammed into the truck on Delhi-Agra National Highway in Makkhanpur area, killing nine passengers on the spot. The truck was trying to overtake a bullockcart when the accident took place.

Police have not ruled out chances of more victims being trapped under the vehicle.

The grievously injured were rushed to hospital. The condition of four of the injured is reported to be critical. The police said the critically injured could be shifted to Agra for better treatment.

The deceased were yet to be identified, the police added.
