Victory against character assassination: Jacob

Kannur, Feb 2 (UNI) Kerala Congress (Jacob) leader T M Jacob today termed the Kerala High Court order setting aside the election of CPI (M) leader M J Jacob who had defeated him in the last Assembly polls from Piravom constituency, as a victory against "character assassination".

''It is a victory against character assassination and justice has been done,''he told reporters soon after the Court verdict.

The Kerala High Court today set aside the election of Mr M J Jacob and ruled that he had personally attacked Mr T M Jacob through leaflets which amounted to character assassination.

He also hoped that the CPI(M) would not go for character assassination in the future.

When asked if Mr M J Jacob had approached the Supreme Court, he said the Apex Court would also pronounce a verdict soon on this issue.
