Two killed in apartment block fire in Bulgaria

SOFIA, Feb 2 (Reuters) Two people were killed when fire broke out in an apartment building in the Bulgarian Black Sea town of Bourgas early today, police said.

An elderly man suffocated and his wife died from her injuries after jumping from the top floor of the 8-storey block to escape the flames. Another 21 people were taken to hospital, but their lives are not in danger, police said.

Police said a cigarette was the most likely cause of the fire.
