Security on trains increased; nine miscreants held
Lucknow, Feb 2 (UNI) Security has been increased on trains travelling to Uttar Pradesh in the wake of torching of coaches during the communal unrest in Gorakhpur.
Cases of trains torched by miscreants in several parts of eastern Uttar Pradesh to protest the arrest of BJP Gorakhpur MP Yogi Adityanath has forced the government to increase security on board trains.
Last night, three sleeper coaches of the Mumbai-Gorakhpur Godan Express were burnt by miscreants at Mohammedbad. The miscreants, who were travelling on the train, pulled the chain before setting fire to the coaches. However, there were no reports of any casualities.
''We have so far arrested nine people in connection with the incidents of train burning,'' a police official said here today.
The Godan incident is the fourth such reported incident since the communal flare-up in Gorakhpur a week ago.
So far, miscreants have managed to set ablaze railway coaches in Deoria, Balrampur, Siddharthnagar and Mau districts.
Today, BJP activists in Meerut had stopped another Amritsar-Gorakhpur train but no damage to the train was reported.
