Pak, UK fail to agree on counter-terrorism issue
Islamabad, Feb 2: A meeting of the Pak-UK Joint Working Group on Counter Terrorism here failed to conclude an agreement on organised crime and counter-terrorism.
However, the two sides agreed to continue the dialogue and expressed the hope that the differences regarding the final draft of the accord would be resolved in the next meeting of the group.
The meeting, which was held at the Interior Ministry, discussed various issues, including organised crimes and counter-terrorism, anti-money laundering measures, anti-human trafficking steps, efforts against cyber crimes, measures taken by anti-narcotics forces and immigration related issues, PakTribune reported.
The Pakistani side was led by Additional Secretary in the Interior Ministry Chaudhry Qamar Zaman while William Nye, Director Counter Terrorism and Intelligence, Home Office London, led the eight-member British delegation.
Pakistan also handed over a list of eight Pakistanis wanted by Islamabad for offences like smuggling and murder, residing in different UK cities. The UK, too, handed over a wanted list to Pakistani authorities.
Both sides also agreed to exchange of information on counter-terrorism operations and working together on anti-money laundering measures.
