More than 35 killed in west Congo clashes-officials
KINSHASA, Feb 1 (Reuters) More than 35 people have been killed in clashes between security forces and opposition supporters in Democratic Republic of Congo's western Bas-Congo province, local government and hospital officials said today.
The violence started late yesterday when supporters of Jean-Pierre Bemba, who lost a presidential poll to President Joseph Kabila last year, staged protests against governors' elections which had been mostly won by pro-Kabila candidates.
