Modi offer prayers at 'yagya' for poll victory
Alwar, Feb 2 (UNI) Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi today participated in a 'vijay yagya' in Alwar district, ostensibly for his party's victory in the next elections.
Mr Modi reached Virat Nagar by helicopter from Jaipur and took part in the 'yagya' at Panchkhand Peeth of Acharya Dharmendra. Godman Chandraswami also participated in the 'yagya', which has been on in a cave in the mountains of Virat Nagar -- a place associated with the Pandavas for the past three days.
Later, speaking at a public function here, Mr Modi said he never sought any blessings for himself but only for the people of his state. I prayed for the welfare of my people particularly the farmers and for sufficient rain in his state,'' he said, noting that everything hinged on rain and if there is enough rain, the farmers would be the happiest lot ultimately leading to an alround economic prosperity in the state.
Former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Kalyan Singh also offered prayers at Panchkhand Peeth yesterday and performed a 'vijay yagya' in preparation for the forthcoming UP elections.
