Ex-Minister's son stabbed to death
Bidar, Karnataka, Feb 2 (UNI) Former Karnataka Minister Gurupadappa Nagamarapalli's son Vijayakumar was stabbed to death over a property dispute here today, police said.
Police said Vijayakumar (50), running an automobile agency here, owned a piece of land on the city outskirts. However, one Venkat had recently grabbed the land and was running a dhaba there. Vijayakumar filed a petition in the court against the land grabbing and the court gave a judgement in favour of him.
Armed with the court order, Vijayakumar, along with police personnel, went to the land. But, Venkat's supporters stabbed him and a Sub-Inspector of Police who rushed to his rescue.
In retaliation, Vijayakumar's aides stabbed one Krishna, whose condition was stated to be critical, police said.
While Vijayakumar succumbed to injuries on the way to the hospital, the SI was stated to be out of danger.
Following the incident, police arrested Venkat and his supporter Bheema. The situation in Bidar was tense and a bandh-like situation prevailed. Shops and business establishments downed shutters.
