EAMCET exam to be held on May 4

Hyderabad, Feb 2 (UNI) Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University (JNTU) Vice-Chancellor K Raja Gopal today announced that the Engineering Agriculture and Medicine Common Entrance Test (EAMCET) would be conducted on May 4.

Addressing a press conference here, Mr Gopal said for the first time, the students would be allowed to submit online applications this year with a serial number and a unique code number.

He said the application form would also be available on the web and while submitting the form online, the students need to enter the serial number and the code number.

He said candidates could also submit simplified one page application form to the regional centers not equipped with online facility.

The Vice-Chancellor said the notification for the examination has been issued today and the sale of applications would commence from February 8. The last date for receipt of application was March 23 and hall tickets would be issued from April five to 11.

He said the syllabus was supplied along with the prospectus which was as per 2005-06 intermediate syllabus.

He said the pattern of examination was objective type with each question carrying one mark. He said qualifying marks would be 40 out of 160 marks. There would be no negative marking, he added.

Dr Gopal said three new regional centres -- Adilabad, Srikakulam and Vizianagaram -- were added to the existing 18 regional centres for the examination.

He said 1.38 lakh candidates appeared for Engineering examination while 89,317 candidates for Agriculture and Medicine last year. He said the number of candidates appearing for the examination is expected to go up by 20 per cent.
