Ambedkar statue desecrated again

Varanasi, Feb 2 (UNI) A statue of Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar, vandalised a month ago, was desecrated again by a mentally deranged youth in the Mirzamurad area, police said here today.

An Ambedkar statue, which was repaired following vandalisation a month back in Herha village under the Mirzamurad police station, was desecrated again late last night by a mentally deranged youth, police said.

Spotting the statue desecrated, the villagers started gathering around the statue this morning and the situation became tense. The police rushed to the spot on getting the information of the incident.

Later, with efforts of the village panchayat members and the police, a new statue of Dr Ambedkar was installed at the same spot, police added.
