10th National E-governance Conference
Bhopal, Feb 2 (UNI) Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan today called for greater public awareness about e-governance to provide corruption-free and more efficient administration.
''Apart from making government officials computer au fait, it is essential to enhance awareness among people about this,'' he said while addressing the 10th National E-governance Conference in the Vidhan Sabha Bhavan premises here, as per an official release.
Among those present were Union Minister of State for Administrative Reforms and Personnel Suresh Pachouri, Madhya Pradesh Information Technology Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya, Chief Secretary R C Sahni, Principal Secretary (IT) Padmaveer Singh, Union Special Secretary (IT) R C Chandrashekhar and Union Additional Secretary (Personnel) Rahul Sareen.
Welcoming delegates from across the country, the chief minister dwelt at length on the initiatives taken by his government towards e-governance.
''Such initiatives in the judiciary, agriculture, water resources, revenue, civic bodies, energy, health and transport sectors have been adjudged the best in the country,'' Mr Chouhan claimed while adding that the Madhya Pradesh government recast its IT policy last year during which 'Samadhan' Online and a Cyber Treasury were launched.
This state also set up an Integrated Treasury Computerisation network that helped in better financial and budgetary control.
The chief minister called for administrative decentralisation along with improvement in the administrative machinery.
