UP govt 'engineered' Gorakhpur riots: RLD
Lucknow, Feb 1 (UNI) Training guns on the Mulayam Singh Yadav government in Uttar Pradesh, the Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) today alleged riots in Gorakhpur were ''planned'' by the State Government.
Talking to mediapersons here, RLD chief and former Union Minister Ajit Singh alleged, ''Mulayam Singh contrived the riots in Gorakhpur, as he wanted to create fear in the minds of Muslims to conquer their vote bank.'' ''Now Muslims are aware. They will not be carried away by the 'crocodile tears' of Mr Yadav. This time, all hopes of the Chief Minister would be shattered as SP would be badly defeated in the forthcoming assembly election,'' he maintained.
Mr Singh added RLD had earlier appealed Mr Yadav to immediately stop the communal activities of BJP MP Yogi Aditya Nath, but no action was taken.
A delegation of the RLD would soon visit riot-hit Gorakhpur to take stock of the situation, he informed.
