UK showcases its cutting edge science and innovation
Bangalore, Feb 1 (UNI) Eyeing the booming Indian economy and its emergence as the favourite destiny for world R and D, United Kingdom has showcased its advances made in various fields of lifestyle and science through a special TV series titled 'Future Living: Vision 2020' to be aired in Discovery Channel in March.
Speaking at the Bangalore Premiere of the series here last night, British High Commission Counsellor, Trade and Investment Jene Owen said science was one of the most important areas in which Britain was putting most efforts.
For example in stem cell research, UK had a strong record with world class research establishment and right regulatory regime to focus on future development. "We are talking with Stem Cell Research Forum of India (SCRFI) about the regulatory regime in a mutually reinforcing way," she said.
"We want to be a very strong partner for India in science as the country had become a 'hot bed' for R and D collaborations and this city has emerged as the 'cooking pot'. This TV series will create new possibilities for new partnerships business and technology partnerships between the two countries," Ms Jane said.
The six-part TV series would take the viewers on a quick tour of breakthrough UK science and technology, from Formula 1 racing to nanotechnology. The episodes include Future Lifestyles, Future computers, health, safety, sustainability and creativity.
