Thar Express to run from Mar 10
Barmer, Feb 1 (UNI) The Thar Express between India and Pakistan, suspended since five months due to floods in Barmer, will be back on tracks from March 10 this year.
North-Western Railways General Manager S B Bhattacharya inspected the repair work of the tracks in Kawas station, which were submerged in August after the floods enveloped the entire Kawas village.
He said the repair work of the tracks would be over by February end and the Thar Express will resume its journey from march 10 between Munabao in India and Khokhrapar in Pakistan.
He added Railway Minister Lalu Prasad is likely to travel to Pakistan by the Thar Express on March 10.
Mr Bhattacharya said the station is still submerged under 8-10 cm water, which is being pumped out by the Special Divisional Material Train (DMT).
