Temperatures in HP continue to rise

Shimla, Feb 1 (UNI) Temperatures across Himachal Pradesh remain four to seven degrees above normal due to the continuing dry spell in the state.

The day and night temperatures in mid and lower hills and high altitude areas of the state rose by a few degrees after receiving light showers on Tuesday.

The met office said the minimum and maximum temperatures at Shimla soared to 7.8 and 18.6 degree Celsius respectively, which was 5.8 and 6.6 degrees above normal.

The maximum at Kalpa also rose to a high of 14.9 degrees, which was over 10 degree Celsius above normal, and the met office said the temperatures were extremely warm and unusual for this period of the year.

The state capital had recorded a high of 15.7 and a low of 5.6 degrees yesterday, while Kalpa was cold at minus 2.8 degrees.

The met office said the minimum temperatures in all the higher altitude areas of the tribal districts of Kinnuar, Lahual Spiti, Chamba and Kullu were being recorded between minus five and minus 15 degrees, as compared to minus 18 to minus 25 degrees recorded in early December.

The colwave conditions have completely relented in the state with the dry spell continuing as Sundernagar and Bhuntar recorded day temperatures of 23.6 and 24.1 degrees respectively.

The met office predicted mainly clear sky in the state during the next 24 hrs.
