Tata Indicom's launches e-services

Ahmedabad, Feb 1 (UNI) Keeping in mind a fairly high personal computer penetration in urban areas of the country, telecom service provider Tata Indicom has out come with a range of e-services like an online store or ''Remo mail'' that provides access to e-mail accounts.

Giving details about the services, Gujarat's Circle Operating Officer Suneel Bandhu said, ''The company has become the country's first telecom operator to launch an online store, 'i-choose' for mobile connections''.

''Customers can buy Tata Indicom postpaid connections from their homes using their computer. We give the commitment of activation and free delivery of handset within three working days,'' he told a press conference here today.

They can compare and select the appropriate tariff plan, handset, and value added packs to suit their requirements and lifestyle demands, he said adding that it is currently available across 20 circles of Tata Teleservices.

The company, in collaboration with US-based company Remoba, has also introduced a 'Remo mail' service, that will enable access to official and personal mails through a range of handsets. It is a wireless application that supports all popular e-mail service providers and Microsoft Exchange, Lotus Notes and other mail servers, he said.

He observed that these services have recieved good response in Gujarat, as many businessmen and corporate people have found it easy to access internet while on the move.
