Sub-inspector remanded to police custody in bribery case
New Delhi, Feb 1 (UNI) A special court today sent a Delhi Police sub-inspector (anti-extortion and robbery cell), Jagdish Kumar, to two-day police custody in a bribery case.
Kumar was caught by CBI testerday while allegedly receiving a bribe of Rs 1.5 lakh from a Delhi-based businessman.
The businessman had recently lodged a complaint with CBI alleging that he was being harassed by ACP (anti-extortion and robbery cell) R K Bansal and his subordinate Jagdish Kumar who were demanding Rs 15 lakh to ignore a complaint lodged against him by one of his associate Bizman.
The CBI registered a case and arrested Kumar when he was receiving the first instalment of Rs 1.5 lakh.
During interrogation Jagdish Kumar disclosed that he had come to receive the bribe at the instance of Bansal.
