Sterilised tribal seeks compensation
Hoshangabad, MP, Feb 1 (UNI) Reminiscent of the excesses during emergency, a bachelor tribal has complained that he was fraudulently sterilised recently and sought compensation and recanalisation from the district administration.
In a complaint to the Tahsildar of Babai in this district, Mr Badami, a resident of Silarikhurd village, said sterilisation was forcefully operated upon him at a family planning camp organised at Babai on January 22 and his plea of being unmarried was ignored by doctors.
''While he was waiting at the bus stand, his acquaintance Vinod Mehra took him in a taxi to a crowded place and forcibly operated sterilisation,'' he said.
His brother Suresh and other villagers vouchsafe that Mr Badami was a bachelor and had been a victim of fraud.
Mr Badamistated that he was residing with his aged mother. He wanted to marry, but was in a dilemma as nobody would come forward to marry a sterilised man.
Babai's Block Medical Officer Anand Choudhary has claimed that camp records showed that Badami was married to Ms Shanti and the couple had a son and a daughter. ''An attempt for recanalisation would be made if it was found that the tribal youth was unmarried,'' Dr Choudhary said.
The BMO had been asked to inquire into the matter on the basis of the youth's complaint, the Tahsildar said.
