Six arrested for cricket betting in Guj

Jamnagar, Gujarat, Feb 1 (UNI) Police today claimed to have busted a cricket betting racket with the arrest of six people, including king-pin Arvind Khimji Patel, from Jamjodhpur town near here.

Acting on a tip-off, the police team yesterday raided a place in Jamjodhpur, 80 km from here, and arrested Arvind and five of his accomplices while they were laying bets on the ODI match being played between India and West Indies, police sources said.

They seized Rs 30,700 cash, five mobile sets and two two-wheelers worthf Rs 1.18 lakh.

The racket was on since the last one-and-half month, they said.
