Prof Abdul Kalam interacts with Phd students !
Hyderabad, Feb 1 (UNI) Professor in President A P J Abdul Kalam surfaced when he preferred to shake hands with a large number of Phd students, brushing aside security concerns.
When the security on duty tried to stop a woman Phd student from approaching him, Dr Kalam rose from his seat and asked the security not to put curbs, drawing loud applause from the audience.
Soon after, all the doctorate holders, after receiving their degree from Chancellor and Governor Rameshwar Thakur, approached the President and shook hands with him and Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy.
In response, the President enquired about their areas of specialisation and future plans.
Dr Kalam rose to receive Urmila Pant, who received doctorate in Marathi, after the Chancellor presented her with the R B Madhekar Memorial Gold Medal.
Gold Medalists V Sridevi (Phd in Commerce) and A Nirmaladevi(Phd in Economics) were among the students who briefly interacted with the President.
Following this, the President's programme was delayed by over 15 minutes.
