Over Rs 2,000 cr National Highways laning projects cleared

New Delhi, Feb 1 (UNI) The government today finally cleared the 304 km long 4/6 laning of National Highway in Tamil Nadu at an estimated cost of Rs 2,033 crore.

The three projects cleared are 136 km Salem-Ulundrupet worth Rs 941 crore, 88 km Trichy-dindigul costing Rs 576 crore and 80 km Trichy-Karur worth Rs 516 crore, Finance Minister P Chidambaram told reporters after the meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) which gave the approval.

The projects will be on a build, operate and transfer basis.

Mr Chidambaram said the clearance to the projects was deferred last time because of some deficiencies.

''Now those deficiencies have been rectified,'' he said.
