Lalbag skeletons await forensic team

Lalbag,Murshidabad, Feb 01 (UNI) A day after 50 skeletons were unearthed from a pond behind the correctional sub-jail here, police has cordoned off the area while speculations run rife as people continue to throng the spot.

ASI Murshidabad S Bakshi, who is in charge of securing the spot told UNI, ''From last night we have cordoned off the area. The skeletons have been taken to the police station.

''We are now awaiting the CID and forensic teams to come and take stock of the situation,'' he added.

Meanwhile, fear has been raised of the replication of the grisly Nithari murders with so many skeletons being unearthed in a heap from the region.

Tension ran high in this historic Murshidabad district yesterday with the recovery of the skeletons.

PWD workers stumbled upon several human skulls besides some animal and human bones while digging the pond.

All the skeltons were, however, dismembered with skulls and other body parts being searated from each other.
