India's spices export declines
Kozhikode, Feb 1 (UNI) India's spices export declined to 3.20 lakh tonnes in 2005-06 as against 3.35 lakh tonnes in 2004-05, a top official today said.
This was because of low level of productivity in the plantation sector compared to other countries coupled with adverse climatic conditions like drought or heavy incessant rainfall and higher cost of production, National Horticulture Mission Joint Secretary S K Pattanaik informed delegates attending a national seminar here.
