HC directs universities to frame Lyngdoh Committee recommendations

Allahabad, Feb 1 (UNI) The Allahabad High Court has directed that in case any university, be it under the State University Act or the Private University Act, has not framed rules and guidelines given in the Lyngdoh Committee, the same shall be at liberty to frame them within a month.

Disposing of the writ petition, Justice S N Srivastava said there survives no grounds as necessary directions had already been issued by the government order of January 8, 2007.

As per direction of the Court, the state government has filed a counter affidavit annexing a government order issued by it on January 8, 2007, which directed all the state and private universities to comply with the guidelines of the Lyngdoh Committee.

The Counsel for the Kanpur University informed the court that rules had been framed for ensuring student union elections at the University and elections will be held in accordance with the guidelines of Lyngdoh Committee.
