Haryana to train students in IT and BPO sectors

Chandigarh, Feb 1 (UNI) The Haryana government has launched a 'Development of Soft Skills' programme for school and college students which will help them get employment in the sectors of Information Technology (IT) and Business Process Outsourcing (BPO).

Haryana Education Minister Phool Chand Mullana said the decision to introduce the programme on EDUSAT in a phased manner had been taken in view of the vast employment opportunities in the sectors of IT and BPO in the National Capital Region (NCR).

Similar opportunities could also be tapped by the students residing in areas close to Chandigarh, he said.

The Minister said the programme would impart necessary training to the students so as to enable them avail benefit of IT and BPO for seeking employment.

He said a sum of Rs 47 lakh had already been spent at the school level on this ongoing programe and an amount of Rs 1.50 crore had been provided for the college students during the current financial year for the implementation of this programme.
