Chandigarh, Feb 1 (UNI) The Chatha committee, looking into the demand for a separate Shiromani Gurdwara Parbhandhak Committe (SGPC) for Haryana, will submit its report to the state government shortly.

The report would be submitted to the government before the coming budget session of the Haryana assembly, Agriculture Minister Harmohinder Singh Chatha, chairman of the committee, told reporters here today.

Most of the affidavits received by the committee were in favour of a separate management body for the Sikh shrines in the state,'' Mr Chatha said.

''We have gone into all the affidavits, about three lakh, filed by various people and most of them are in favour of such a body. In fact, there are no affidavits against it,'' he added.

The committee was earlier scheduled to submit the report by December 31.

To a question, Mr Chatha denied that the delay in submitting the report had anything to do with the assembly elections in the neighbour state of Punjab.
