Govt will eradicate corruption in civil service: CM
Thiruvananthapuram, Feb 1 (UNI) Kerala Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan today said the government would take all steps to eradicate corruption in the Civil Service.
Inaugurating the Electronic Records System (ERS) for filing property returns statements through 'online', he asked the people to isolate the corrupt officials and sought their cooperation while taking action against the corrupted officials.
Though only a few officials accepted bribes in the government office, there was a general concept that all government officials were corrupt, he said and suggested the government servants should disclose their assets, which would help the government to find out whether they had accumulated assets disproportionate of their income and check corruption to an extent.
The people had the right to know the details of the government servants, he added.
The Chief Minister claimed this was for the first time in the country that such a system was introduced.
In the first phase, it would be introduced in the Secretariat and within a year it would be introduced in all the departments, he added.
