Panchayati Raj Minister Subhash Shirodkar said the decision has been conveyed to the High Court in view of the petition filed by seven sarpanchas from North Goa, who objected to the government intention to appoint the government officers as administrators to their village panchayat.

The petitioners demanded that elections to the village panchayat be held as early as possible, till then, the village panchayat bodies should appoint Sarpanchas as administrators. The five-year term of these panchayats ended on January 30.
