GM India's Jan sales rise 46 per cent

New Delhi, Feb 1 (UNI) General Motors (GM) India has sold 3,776 cars in the month of January, registering a sales growth of 46 per cent as against 2,592 cars in the same month last year.

According to the announcement made today, the sales figure for January includes 2,111 units of Chevrolet Tavera, 1,421 units of Chevrolet Aveo U-VA and 244 units of Chevrolet Optra.

Responding on the sales growth, GM India Vice President expressed his happiness and said it shows customers' faith in the company's products.

The company had launched Chevrolet Aveo U-VA, Aveo Sedan and SRV Premium sportsback this fiscal.

GM India is ramping up the capacity of its facility at Halol in Gujarat to 85,000 units to cater to the increased demand for Chevrolet brand of vehicles. All the Chevrolet brand of cars are being rolled out from this plant.

The company has also commenced work on its new manufacturing facility at Talegaon in Maharashtra, which will have an annual capacity of 1,40,000 cars. ''The plant is scheduled to start production from the third quarter of 2008,'' a company statement said.
